How to Test a New Jewellery Style Without Overstocking
New styles drive jewellery sales — but dead stock quietly eats your margin. The answer is not to order less variety; it is to test small, read the data, and scale only what sells. Here is the process we recommend to every wholesale buyer.
Why one box is the right test size: with factory-direct suppliers, a box of 100 pcs is the lowest commitment that still gives you a real test — enough pieces to display, sell and gather numbers, yet small enough that a miss costs very little. Our rings line runs on this exact model: 1 box = 100 pcs.
Pick styles like a buyer, not like a shopper: choose 3–5 reference styles across price points — zircon budget pieces plus one or two moissanite premium pieces — and match them to what already sells in your store. If your customers buy gold-tone studs, test gold-tone studs; do not start with a wildcard.
Run the test properly: give every style a fixed display spot, photograph it well and track sell-through weekly. Two to four weeks is enough to separate winners from shelf-sitters. Use your supplier's real photos and videos to pre-sell before the box even arrives.

Read the numbers, then act: reorder winners in multiple boxes, drop the rest without guilt. A 70% zircon / 30% moissanite split is a proven starting mix — adjust by what your own data says. Every store's winners are different; the point is to find yours cheaply.
Customise only proven styles: once a design sells consistently, ask for OEM — custom stones, plating thickness, engraving and packaging. A proven style carrying your own brand is worth ten new wildcards.
Our model: factory-direct B2B, and the styles in our galleries are references, not fixed stock. Samples in 3–5 days, bulk delivery in 7–15 days, rings from 1 box (100 pcs) per design. Contact us for the current gallery and start your test box this week.
